Come get cozy with us Thursday, June 18th from 5-9pm for Hotel Broad Ripple's Third Thursday Art Walk. Explore the works of Addie Hirschten as her colorful pieces spark a new appreciation for nature. Hirschten is a contemporary visionary expressionist painter, author and public speaker. Hirschten teaches painting in person at the Studio Alchemy Gallery and online at the Alchemy of Painting on Teachable.
“Hirschten earned a Bachelor of Fine Art from Appalachian State University graduating in the year 2000. After working for a number of years as a children's librarian, she went on to earn a Master of Library Science at Indiana University. When Hirschten moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 2011 she began conducting performances for children with her company, Fantastic Fables, as well as presenting sermons for Unitarian Universalist churches. During the same time period she started painting daily and posting new paintings on her prolific blog. Over the years, the style and purpose behind her paintings has changed drastically from abstract expressionist work, that focuses on art therapy influences; to impressionism, that reveres the sacred beauty of the natural world. For many years Hirschten signed her paintings simply with the letter A then “Azhir”which is the name of a three headed dragon found in Zoroastrian mythology. Starting in 2019 she signed paintings “Vita” after the garden designer, Vita Sackville West.”
